CHEMICAL SKIN PEEL

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance effectively exfoliates the uppermost damaged skin layers to reveal the fresh and radiant skin beneath.

about CHEMICAL SKIN PEEL

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance offers a unique blend of acids to provide a gentle but effective skin peel, resulting in tighter, smoother and brighter looking skin.

It contains a blend of salicylic (20%), glycolic and lactic acid. Salicylic acid- based peels are used to improve patient outcomes for a range of skin conditions including blemishes, acne scarring, photodamage, fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation.

This peel is suitable for all skin types/ethnicities.

The peel can be used on the face/neck/chest and upper back.

Ideally, please attend the appointment make up free. Dr Chapman will cleanse your skin with a special prep solution. Barrier ointment will then be applied to areas we do not need to treat (eg. eyebrows, lips). The peel solution will then be applied in 1 -2 layers as tolerated. You may experience a mild tingling and burning sensation for a few minutes but this should settle quickly. The peel is removed after 10 minutes with a gentle cleanser. A mineral sunscreen is then applied.

Skin should feel immediately smoother and more radiant. You may have some initial redness. In the coming days, skin may feel rough and start to flake/peel. This is a “minimal downtime peel” so peeling should not be excessive but it is advisable to moisturise regularly and to carry a pot of moisturiser with you. After 7-10 days the peeling process has usually finished, revealing smooth, radiant skin.

30 minutes

Minimal. Expect some minor skin flaking for up to a week after the treatment.

Months

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a superficial skin peel and therefore has minimal risks. People with sensitive skin may experience more initial redness and flaking. It is important to avoid excessive UV exposure (and wear sunscreen) after a peel to avoid pigmentation changes.

After your treatment you will be emailed with aftercare instructions so you can refer to this at any time.

Following a peel, your skin is especially sensitive to the sun. Everyone should use a factor 30+ sunscreen daily anyway, but please ensure you pay particular attention to applying it for 2 weeks after the peel. Avoid strong direct sunlight or sunbeds and consider wearing a hat.

Avoid picking at flaking skin and allow it to shed naturally.

Apply moisturiser regularly. Dr Hannah may recommend some specific aftercare products to enhance results.

Don’t use products with retinol/retinal/tretinoin/salicylic acid/glycolic acid/lactic acid/benzol peroxide for 48 hours after the peel.
