DERMAL FILLER
Natural and subtle volume replacement
about dermal filler treatment
Dermal filler is primarily composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a hydrating substance found naturally in the skin.
There are a variety of applications for dermal filler including diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, replacing lost volume and facial balancing.
When people hear the word “filler”, they sometimes assume that the results will be obvious and dramatic. However, natural, subtle and elegant results can be obtained with the right product and the best hands.
Dr Hannah uses premium brand Teoxane in her clinic. Teoxane utilises Resilient Hyaluronic Acid® technology, which preserves the natural behaviour of HA to produce a subtle result.
Filler can be combined with other treatments such as “Botox” and skin regenerative treatments.

What are dermal fillers?
The most popular dermal fillers used today are made of hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in our skin and other body tissues. In aesthetic medicine, dermal fillers are usually a clear gel-like substance that it injected under the skin into particular locations to replace lost volume or create a more harmonious balance of facial features. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are non-permanent, meaning that they are reabsorbed into the body over time.
The main uses for dermal fillers are to:
- Replace lost volume. As we age, we loose fat from some areas of the face and even experience bone loss. This loss of support, coupled with the effects of gravity can result in the descent of facial features, formation of jowls and deepening of shadows on the face. Dermal filler can be used to replace lost volume and reduce shadows to give a more “healthy” appearance.
- Improve facial harmony. Sometimes dermal fillers can help to address facial disharmony which may be due to aging or genetic factors. For example, chin filler or lip filler can help to balance a face. We can also use dermal fillers to address facial asymmetry.
At kinDRed skin we never use dermal fillers to accentuate features in an abnormal way. Our focus is always on safety and subtle tweaks to help you to be the very best version of you.
Is dermal filler treatment painful?
In most situations, a strong numbing cream will be applied before the treatment. The dermal filler gel also has local anaesthetic in it. This will make the procedure more comfortable. Most people describe the treatment as a slightly strange sensation, rather than painful. Some treatment areas can be more sensitive, such as the lips. Dr Hannah has various strategies to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Dr Hannah has successfully treated even needle-phobic patients with dermal filler.
Will dermal fillers make me look fake?
Fake and obvious results are usually down to a combination of cheap product, poor technique, too much product and a lack of respect for normal anatomy.
Dr Hannah only uses premium dermal filler brand Teoxane, which is the only brand to have it’s entire dermal filler range CE marked. Dr Hannah uses her knowledge of anatomy to ensure safe and subtle results. When choosing a clinic for dermal filler treatments, a top tip is to study lots of their before and after results and even the appearance of their clinicians, to ensure their aesthetic aligns with your own. At kinDRed skin, we understand that dermal filler treatment is often very helpful to replace lost volume, increase hydration and harmoniously rebalance a profile but we will never aim to over-fill an area or produce unnatural results.
How much does dermal filler treatment cost?
How much does dermal filler treatment cost?
At kinDRed skin, we do not offer dermal filler “package deals”. We will perform a full medical and facial assessment and work alongside you to develop a truly bespoke treatment plan. This may be treatment of a single area or may involve treatment of several areas to get the very best result.
A guide to the cost of dermal filler can be found here. However, you may be given a bespoke quote, dependent on your needs and goals.
Is there anyone that shouldn’t have dermal filler treatment?
Dermal filler treatment should not be undertaken if you are pregnant/breast feeding, have an active skin infection or skin cancer at the site of treatment, allergy to local anaesthetic or hyaluronic acid, suffer from a clotting disorder. If you have a history of cold sores, dermal filler treatment could bring on an episode. Occasionally, we may prescribe an antiviral treatment around the time of treatment to supress the cold-sore virus. Dr Hannah will discuss this with you.
